Late at night my parents (OK, likely my mom), would sneak into each of our bedrooms and leave a Valentine card along with some chocolates and sweet-hearts to greet us in the morning.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s a memory I savor as much as the treats!<br \/>\nBut when things get busy, I know many a mama (including myself) can get caught with her heart on her sleeve, and perhaps in her throat, but with no sweet treats (that meet our exacting standards that is!) for the foot of the bed.<\/p>\n<h3>Let Nakayummies come to your rescue!<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fxnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_4956-290x259.jpg\" alt=\"nakayummies \" width=\"208\" height=\"186\" class=\" wp-image-11587 alignleft\" \/>Instead of leaving my kiddo broken-hearted, I plan to whip up a batch of Nakayummies this weekend and scribe my maternal adoration on a homemade card. The family tradition shall live on in the heart of my child as it does for me.<br \/>\nFor those of you who are familiar with a good Nakayummy, go ahead and pull out all your key ingredients for a quick and satisfying chocolate confection. You already know you won\u2019t be sorry!<br \/>\nAnd don\u2019t be afraid to get creative\u2026Nakayummies are very forgiving.<br \/>\nFor those of you in need of a Nakayummy refresher, I\u2019ve got your covered with two ways to meet your heart&#8217;s desire.<br \/>\nBe mine, valentine!<br \/>\nWarmly,<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fxnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/signature.png\" alt=\"Andrea Nakayama\" width=\"192\" height=\"63\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9811\" \/><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nP.S. Check your inbox on Sunday for a special heart-happy goodie (not chocolate exactly, but I think you\u2019re going to like it!).<\/p>\n<h2>cookies n\u2019 cream nakayummies<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup coconut oil<\/li>\n<li>scant 1\/4 cup raw honey or coconut nectar (perhaps less, these are sweet!)<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup raw cocoa nibs<\/li>\n<li>1 tspn vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tspn sea salt (or more, if you like the salty\/sweet)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 heaping cup pecans, chopped medium-fine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preparation<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nMix all ingredients into softened (but not heated) coconut oil in bowl (you don\u2019t want the cocoa to melt).<br \/>\nPlace bowl in refrigerator for about 1\/2 hour or so.<br \/>\nMix ingredients to incorporate and, using a melon scooper, scoop rounded dollops into mini muffin, candy cups or ice cube trays. Freeze.<\/p>\n<h2>chocolate mint nakayummies<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fxnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_4972-290x409.jpg\" alt=\"nakayummies \" width=\"211\" height=\"297\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11581\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup gently melted coconut oil<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup gently melted cacao butter or another 1\/2 cup gently melted coconut oil<\/li>\n<li>scant 1\/2 cup raw honey or coconut nectar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon sea salt<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon peppermint extract (or more to taste) ~ optional<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup carob powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup cacao powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preparation<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nMix all ingredients into your melted coconut oil in a bowl. Work the ingredients to be sure they are well integrated and there are no clumps of carob or cacao.<br \/>\nCarefully pour into\u00a0mini muffin, candy cups or ice cube trays. Freeze.<br \/>\nFor both recipes, you can take them over the top by sprinkling them with freeze-dried strawberries (pictured here) or raspberries, crushed nuts, shredded coconut, or sea salt.
