Full Body Systems Graduate Spotlight: Brandin Roa
Posted by Andrea Nakayama
A note from Brandin Roa, Full Body Systems graduate and Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner:
When I was introduced to Andrea, I was struggling with a few things…
The first two being a bit of confidence—I was missing some validation, and I think that I was a uncomfortable in my skin, as it related to the nutrition industry.
I was also struggling with my identity, and I hadn’t really found a community of practitioners that I strongly identified with that shared similar philosophies, approaches, and a desire to support one another.
I was first introduced to Andrea through the Wellness Business Academy. They shared Andrea’s Functional Nutrition 101 e-book, and an invitation to join the Reframe Nutrition workshop series. I registered for the 3-part series immediately. That was two years ago now, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I’ve truly found a new identity as a functional nutrition practitioner. I’m not reluctant to share my professional label and what I do for fear of backlash anymore.
Not only that, I’ve set myself apart from that fragmented crowd in a way that I’m proud of.
The FBS teachings have crystallized the way I practice, and Andrea’s taken nutrition and bio-individuality out of the realm of theory and distilled it down into a practical and understandable way of working. She’s taught me how to think differently, or functionally, allowing me to identify and resolve the root causes of the health problems that are showing up for the clients in my practice.
Equally important is what Andrea calls the art of the practice, and how we actually do the work we do.
I’m now better equipped to help people who walk into my practice, no matter what their issues are.
My practice is evolving in a way where I’m actually attracting more of the types of clients that I wish to work with. I’m connecting better with them and cultivating longer-term relationships. As a result, I’m fostering the types of therapeutic partnerships that invite better healing outcomes. What a fantastic thing to experience!
I’m more effective. Not dumping a lot of info on my clients. They have better results. And I have more return clients.
Before, I was dealing with the disease instead of the person.
Now I can really say that I work with the individual. And finally, I’m practicing in a way that’s aligned with my mission, to fill the gaps in our healthcare system.
Many nutrition professionals are happy building meal plans and helping people with weight loss. I see that there’s so much more that can be done to help clients make lasting changes. And now I’m equipped to do it.
I have tremendous confidence. I have the power to practice. I know I’m a functional nutritionist and I can truly do the work to make change in the world.
Come join me and Brandin Roa, FNLP, NNCP, CPCC during our upcoming Full Body Systems Graduate Success Panel where we’ll look at the different ways that health coaches and practitioners are putting the tools of functional nutrition into practice to accelerate their results in practice.
