Full Body Systems Graduate Spotlight: Amber Robertson
Posted by Andrea Nakayama
Find out what keeps one Health Coach so confident and competent in this short interview we recently did with Amber Robertson, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Full Body Systems graduate and Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner (FNLP):
FNL: What did you struggle with before taking Full Body Systems?
Amber: Before Full Body Systems, I felt I was lacking a depth of knowledge in my practice.
The education I got as a health coach was great for the basics of general wellness—I could help people on a broad level, but I had clients coming to me who had needs beyond that, and I couldn’t help them.
People had thyroid issues, colitis, skin troubles, but I didn’t know what to do. I struggled with supporting them so I took the Functional Nutrition Lab: Digestive Intensive.
We all know we should eat more veggies, drink more water, and get more sleep. These people needed more and I was ill-equipped.
FNL: How have you changed internally since Full Body Systems?
Amber: After taking Full Body Systems, I am absolutely 100% more confident. I have in-depth knowledge about the body—physiology and function—and it gives me so much confidence. That’s what I was looking for, that knowledge, and it’s made all the difference.
Now I’m much more than a partner to my clients. I am a leader. And they see me that way.
I can help people with more complex health issues. I would not have known how to work with my current clients 2 years ago. I have people with thyroid issues, colitis, skin issues, all those things that caused me to feel like I didn’t know enough before. Now I can truly help those people! I can map out what’s going on in their bodies. And I can more easily explain how I work, so people understand.
I have so much confidence in myself and my leadership now.
FNL: How has your practice changed?
Amber: My schedule is filling up. I feel confident and comfortable increasing my client load because I’m spending less time preparing for clients. I have so many tools and so much information at my disposal. I’m not tunneling down the rabbit hole of research anymore. There’s an efficiency in the way I work.
I’ve started to take my practice away from only seeing people in-person to more of a virtual practice. That allows me to see more people.
Halfway through Full Body Systems I increased my prices, and last year my coaching brought in more money than ever before.
I’m doing multiple speaking engagements each month, and the number of presentations I do has increased a lot since Full Body Systems. I do workshops and presentations for local and national corporations, and I also do a standing cooking demo each month at the farmers market.
Since graduating from Full Body Systems, my involvement and presence in my community has positively snowballed. In addition to booking more engagements, I was also invited to join a team of wellness practitioners at a local healing center. I’m working alongside acupuncturists and energy healers.
I feel so respected as a professional these days. I come across as someone who has it together. I feel more confident in the direction my business is going
FNL: What changes have you seen in your clients?
Amber: The level of interest and commitment my clients have now is so much different than my early days as a coach. They take our work together more seriously, they are more compliant, and 100% of them are having positive transformation. I think it’s because I’m able to help them understand what’s happening in their bodies.
Function and physiology. To be able to explain to someone with celiac disease, “this is what your intestines look like, this is what a healthy GI system looks like, and this is what we’re going to do to get your gut to heal,” it makes such a difference! They like learning the science of it and they take more ownership.
My clients are re-upping. I used to work with someone 3-6 months. Now they are buying another group of sessions.
I’m moving away from just helping people get healthy and moving towards really helping people heal from serious issues.
I just love watching my clients have those transformations. I love those ‘aha’ moments.
