Reframing mental health

DATE: 2017-08-31

I can remember the day when thinking about the role of nutrition in physical and mental wellness was seen as ridiculous or whacky.

Physicians could easily say things like:
“Your food has nothing to do with your current condition or mental health,” and patients wouldn’t leave their offices questioning them or suspecting anything different.
That was then, this is now…

Today we have Dr. Oz speaking on television about diet and nutrition almost daily. We see healthy food shows on the Food Network and youtube videos touting the benefits of blueberries or chia seeds. And it’s not hard to find a vast array of food bloggers sharing their healing journeys through diet along with their amazing recipes to help walk the dietary-described talk.

Best of all, we have opportunities to learn from experts on the subjects from our very own home—experts like those featured in the upcoming Mental Wellness Summit 2.

The recognition of the role of food in health, mental wellness, healing, and medicine didn’t happen overnight.

It took the research and clinical experience of practitioners and thought-leaders that were committed to the root causes of what ails us—watching our overall state of health plummeting as the food culture changed.

The recognition of the role of food in health took the work of those that were willing to be called ridiculous or whacky, to put their fork down and stand up for what they knew to be true.

And they did it for me. And for you.

What’s next?

There is a future of health and mental wellness and it does involve nutrition among other healing modalities outside the typical medical model.

I’m thrilled to have the chance to talk more on this subject as a featured speaker during the upcoming Mental Wellness Summit 2. It’s live in September.

In my interview I’ll share how you can reframe mental health—merging biological systems with diet and lifestyle modification for improved results.

You likely know, there is not a “magic pill” to solve mental health challenges.

During the Mental Wellness Summit, you’ll learn from me and other experts about effective forms of integrative holistic care to tap into the natural beauty and strength of your mind, body and spirit.
